Director of Racing Appointed
After over 50 years as a wholly amateur Club, the Derby Phoenix has decided to bow to the inevitable and appoint Jim Hinchliff as a full time Director of Racing. The Club believes that it has to do this if it is to build on the increasing success and popularity it has enjoyed in recent years. The only way to move forward is to appoint a full time member of staff to deliver the necessary quality of service that its members have a right to expect, at times which are convenient to them. Jim is already well known to our members and he will continue to deliver his own familiar brand of friendly advice and assistance.
Chairman of the Club, David J Smith commented - "We are the last of the "big five" road racing clubs to appoint a full time member of staff, but we'd reach the limit of what volunteers can deliver in their spare time. Jim has done wonders for raising the profile of the Club and now that he can devote his whole time to it we believe we'll be able to deliver even better quality events for our members"
Jim said "This is my dream job. I?ve always been passionate about Derby Phoenix since I joined it as a novice competitor. I have loads of ideas about how we can make it a really great Club - I can't wait for the 2008 season to get underway."
